Salvio signs new contract with Benfica
Eduardo Salvio has put an end to transfer speculation by penning a new long-term contract with the club.
Salvio’s previous deal ran out in the summer, meaning that there was a chance that he could begin talks with other clubs, but the new deal ties him to Benfica until 2022.
The 28-year old remains one of the highest earners at the club, while also being the longest serving, having joined the club in 2012 for 11 million euros.
Before that, he was also loaned to the Lisbon outfit in 2010, from Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, and did enough to convince Benfica to sign him permanently.
He has played for Benfica 15 times across all competitions so far this campaign, including 7 appearances in the league.
