Guimaraes to loan Benfica midfielder Krovinovic

Vitoria Guimaraes are set to strengthen their side by loaning in Croatian midfielder Filip Krovinovic.

Krovinovic struggled for game time last season, appearing in just 4 Primeira Liga games for Benfica spanning over just 36 minutes of football.

It came after he suffered from a cruciate ligament rupture late on in the 2017-18, which took him out not only for the last few months of that campaign, but also the first 10 gameweeks of this most recent season.

Jovic signs for Real Madrid - and Benfica get a substantial cut of the profits

Former Benfica striker Luka Jovic has completed his widely anticipated move to Real Madrid.

Jovic joined Benfica in 2016 but failed to make an impact at the club, and was soon loaned out to Frankfurt.

Frankfurt eventually took up the option to sign him permanently for a fee in the region of €10million.

Now, though, he has been sold to the Spanish giants for a substantial profit, bringing in a total of €65million for Frankfurt.

Benfica will, however, receive a substantial proportion of that sum, having included a clause in the Frankfurt deal that ensures Benfica receive 30% of any profit Frankfurt make on his sale.

That means that Benfica are set to make another €17million in the deal, a strong return for a platter that was only ever on the fringes at Benfica.

It makes it far less likely that Benfica will feel inclined to have to sell one of their academy products as a result this season.

That is because Benfica have already brought in substantial income for the sale of Raul Jimenez (€40million), while Andre Carrillo is also expected to be sold for approximately €25million.

Porto set to complete signing of Eliaquim Mangala

Porto are edging closer to completing the signing of French centreback Eliaquim Mangala.

The 28-year old, who played for Porto for 3 years between 2011 and 2014, didn't play a single senior game last season at Manchester City, having fallen down the pecking order.

Porto originally sold the French international to City for a fee in the region of 30 million euros in the summer of 2014, and he went on to play 79 matches for the English champions.

However, with heavy investment under Pep Guardiola, Mangala is surplus to requirements, and Porto, in need of increased depth at centreback with the sale of Eder Militão and Felipe, are to take advantage of his availability.

An agreement for Mangala, who has played for France 8 times, is understood to have already been reached between the clubs, and all that awaits is the medical.

Should no issues be identified, the signing could be completed in a matter of days.

Ricardo Costa could return to Porto

Experienced centreback Ricardo Costa could be one of a number of players brought to Porto next season.

The 38-year old has just come off a season of captaining Tondela, leading his side to a narrow escape from relegation.

Costa previously left Porto 12 years ago at the age of 26, when he departed the Portuguese giants to join Wolfsburg after spending 6 seasons with the Dragons.

Indeed, since he last left Porto, he has played for 7 different teams from across the continent, from Germany to Spain and Switzerland to Greece. He even had a brief stint in Qatar for Al Sailiya.

However, according to the latest edition of A Bola, Costa could now be set for a surprise return to his former side, who are short of centrebacks after the departure of Eder Militão and Felipe to Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid respectively.

It is unclear whether he would be part of the senior side or the B team, the latter a logical option which would offer the younger players in the side a terrific leader and mentor.

Costa has played for Portugal 22 times in total - his last appearance for his country coming in 2014 in a 1-0 home loss to Albania in the Euro 2016 qualifiers.

Benfica closing in on signing of Barcelona shot-stopper

Benfica are increasingly hopeful of signing Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen.

The Dutch international has represented his country 48 times, and was the Netherlands number one choice in the 2014 World Cup, a tournament that his country ultimately finished 3rd in.

The 30-year old joined Barcelona from Ajax in 2016 for €13million, but has failed to make an impression at the Spanish outfit.

This season he has made just one appearance in La Liga - in a 2-0 loss against Celta Vigo last week.

He also played a Champions League match against Tottenham (a 1-1 draw) and 6 Copa Del Ray fixtures.

Indeed, in all three seasons at Barcelona, Cillessen has only played 29 matches across all competitions - 23 of which came in Spain's cup competition, 3 in La Liga, and 3 in the Champions League.

With game time hard to come by, Benfica are closing in on the signing of Cillessen, who will compete with Odysseas Vlachodimos for a place in Benfica's starting lineup.

Bruno Varela, who is currently on loan at Ajax, is likely to leave permanently, while Miles Svilar will be loaned out.

After Raul Jimenez, Benfica are set to sell another forward

Having made 38 million euros on the sale of Raul Jimenez, Benfica are set to be guaranteed some more cash before the summer window has even opened.

That is because Andre Carrillo is set to move on permanently, according to A Bola.

The winger, who is currently out on loan at Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, is expected to make his stay at the club permanent this summer.

The 53-time Peruvian international was initially brought in by former Benfica and Sporting manager Jorge Jesus, although he has since been dismissed by the club for failing to commit to a longer-term future with the Saudi side.

It is expected that Carrillo, who was out on loan at Marco Silva's Watford last season, will bring in about 20 million euros for the Lisbon club.

Combine that with the sale of Raul Jimenez, Benfica have already generated a splendid income on player departures before the summer window has even begun, with 58 million euros set to arrive at the club.

It takes off the pressure for Benfica to have to sell some of their star players such as João Felix and Ruben Dias.

Guimarães star Tozé set to leave at the end of the season amid interest from overseas

Vitoria SC midfielder Tozé is to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.

Tozé has been a top performer for Guimarães this season, predominantly used on the right wing and contributing 5 goals and 3 assists in his 24 league outings.

His efforts have helped Guimarães earn a fifth place spot in the Portuguese top fight.

Some of his goals have been crucial, his strike against Sporting earlier this season the only one of the game, earning his side an impressive 3 points against one of the traditional "Big Three".

He also bagged a goal against Porto to help Guimarães come from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at the Dragão, one of the more surprising comebacks you're likely to see. His brace against Feirense also meant his side earned a crucial 2-1 victory over bottom-of-the-table Feirense.

It is no wonder, therefore, that Vitoria are keen on extending Tozé's contract beyond the end of next season.

However, due to financial limitations, meeting his demands has proven difficult, and with wealthier clubs interested in the 26-year old midfielder, it was always going to be impossible to keep hold of him.

Two clubs have emerged as frontrunners to sign Tozé, with current Turkish strugglers Fenerbahce keen on bolstering their squad.

Turkish table-toppers Istanbul Basaksehir are also interested in bringing him in.
