Gonçalo Guedes left out of the PSG squad for tour in Asia for International Champions Cup

Gonçalo Guedes has been left out of the Paris squad for their pre-season tour in Asia, casting further doubt on his future with the French giants.

Guedes, 21, was on loan at Valencia last season, where he had a highly successful campaign, playing in 33 La Liga games, scoring 5 and assisting 11 in the process. Able to play on either wing or just behind the striker, Guedes signed for PSG from Benfica for £25million in January 2017, but struggled to break into the first team with the current French champions, with the high competition for game time seemingly too great.

With incredible strength in depth at coach Thomas Tuchel's disposal in the attacking department, Guedes was always expected to be moved on - either on loan or permanently - and this latest development further hints that he will not be playing for Paris next season.

Despite a disappointing World Cup with Portugal where he failed to make an impression on the biggest international stage, Guedes became a valuable member of the team at Valencia last season, and the La Liga club are thought to be very keen on bringing him back to Mestalla.

Guedes himself would also welcome a return to Spain where he found his form and flourished, helping the side earn 4th place in the league and a spot in this year's UEFA Champions League as a result. While he would also be happy to stay with PSG, he would be demanding far more regular game time than he was given in his first season at the club, something which they will not be able to guarantee with the likes of Neymar, Mbappe, Cavani, Jesé and Draxler also vying for places in the starting lineup.

Capped 14 times for Portugal, at least one more season away from Paris is now anticipated. But, while Valencia are favourites to sign him, his next destination cannot be pinpointed with certainty, with PSG ultimately in control of his destiny.
