West Ham interested in Porto striker Moussa Marega

West Ham interested in Porto striker Moussa Marega

West Ham United are looking to continue their strong summer spending by bringing in the 27-year old Malian international.

Marega, who helped Porto win the title last season for the first time in five years - scoring 22 goals in just 29 league games - has been hinting at a Porto exit all summer, seeking a new challenge away from the Portuguese club, and West Ham look a likely destination for the powerful striker.

The Malian, who has played 13 times for his country, has also expressed a desire to try his luck in a new division, and the Premier League is a very tempting prospect, with Marega having spent the past three seasons in Portugal.

He has had an incredible career in the land of the European Champions though, starting at Maritimo where he netted 12 times in 29 league appearances, enough to convince Porto to sign him. He was then sent on loan to Guimaraes, where he had an even more impressive campaign, netting 13 in 25 league games, helping the side to fourth in the league and gain a place in the Europa League group stage. It was good enough for Porto to opt to keep him at the club last season, where he then helped the Portuguese giants reclaim the league title.

Having impressed throughout his time in Portugal, followers of the Primeira Liga will know that this would be an impressive signing for West Ham, who have done some exceptional business already this summer.
