From Turkey: Quaresma asks to leave Besiktas

There have been several transfer stories involving Portuguese players so far this window, with the likes of Gelson Martins, Adrien Silva, Tiago Ilori and Bruno Varela expected to move on for the second half of the season, and Ricardo Quaresma has become the latest name to be added to that list.

According to several reports in Turkey, the Portuguese winger has demanded to leave his current club Besiktas, having seen compatriot Pepe leave the Turkish outfit last month.

The 35-year old still has 18 months to run on his current contract with Besiktas, but he is understood to have asked the management of the club to sell him on, likely before the end of the month.

The club Quaresma is believed to be most interested in joining is none other than reigning Portuguese champions FC Porto, which would mark his third stint at the club and would see him follow in the footsteps of Pepe, who signed for Porto two weeks ago.

It is believed that he wants to leave the club amid reports that his family are unhappy in the country and want a change of scenery having been with the club since 2015.

The 80 time Portugal international and Euro 2016 champion has played 23 games for Besiktas this season across all competitions, scoring 3 goals and assisting an impressive 12 as he has helped the side to 6th in the league standings.
