Tomas Esteves not registered in FC Porto's Primeira Liga squad

Porto’s highly promising right back Tomas Esteves has been left out of FC Porto’s Primeira Liga squad, with the player not expected to be part of Porto’s team this season.

The 18-year old, who is one of the most promising players to have come through Porto’s acclaimed academy in recent years, has not yet been registered in the squad alongside Ze Luis, Vincent Aboubakar, Diogo Queiros and Osorio, all of whom are expected to leave this window. Ivan Marcano, who is currently out through injury, has also been left out of the squad.

Esteves, it is known, is a player Porto are actively willing to sell this summer as they look to raise further funds to balance the books, and he has been a major target of Spanish giants Valencia, who have been pursuing both him and Porto teammate Diogo Leite for a long time now.

The young Portuguese right back is highly rated at Porto, but with the signing of Carraça on a free transfer added to the performances of Wilson Manafa and the presence of the versatile Jesus Corona, Porto are willing to sell as they look to raise some more funds to balance the books.

Esteves was part of the Porto team that won the UEFA Youth League in 2019, and was one of the standout stars, playing 6 of their games as they won the competition, including the full 90 minutes in the final versus Chelsea.

Esteves is one of the four Portuguese players that remain in contention to win the prestigious Golden Boy award, which has previously been won by both Renato Sanches and Joao Felix.
